Truth about Aum Ayurveda

Hello Readers and Visitors,

This blog is to raise questions about who is Vaidya Priyanka and the organization called Aum Ayurveda that she claims is a non-profit.

You might have had a positive or negative or neutral experience in dealing with her. You are welcome to share it here. The objective is to bring out the truth about this person and organization. There have been many who have been thankful for her doings, and there have been many who hate her for her misdeeds... The question always remains what is the truth?

You may ask - why is time and energy being spent on this blog by the authors? Simple answer - she has used many people to make a profit for herself, under the pretext of helping them and pretending that she loves them ands wants the best for them. On the other hand, she seems to have done a lot of positive things and people respect her for that. This effort is to create a platform where people can comment/share their experiences, so that others do not get misled and abused by her or her organization; or others benefit by her and her organization. The jury is YOU - the reader to decide what is good for you.

This forum is not meant to defame anyone or pass a judgement. Pls. use respectful language or your post/comment will be deleted.

Lets start with some basic questions:
1. When you visit her why does she make everyone fill a questionnaire similar to the ones used in Psychological tests in the Bachelors/Masters courses of many universities? Why is your psychological profiling done? Have you ever felt that by your answers she is gauging what kind of a person are you so that she can impress you by her statements? Have you ever wondered that how she guesses so much about you or your family/friends without your telling her anything - Could this questionnaire helping in guessing?

2. Why does the same questionnaire has comments in the end that you are doing holistic medicine/ayurveda at your own risk and Vaidya or her organization cannot be held liable for advice/consultation they give you, which might have an adverse impact? Why are you not given a copy of the paper you sign? What is the need of restricting access to this paper?

3. You might have gone to her multiple times for a consultation or invited to one of her gatherings for hindu prayers or parties that she organizes. Have you ever seen any of her so called staff members like Richard or Matt or Belinda? If not, then have you wondered why no staff is ever present in such gatherings?

4. You might have told her about your life/ family/ friends. You might have introduced her - in person to everyone important to you. Why is it that you never meet any of her family even if they are in town? Why is it that you only hear that her mother or father or brother visited and then left? Are you lesser of a mortal to whom her family should not be introduced? Have you ever wondered if this so called family even exists? If yes, then why the secrecy in introducing them to YOU - who is an important part of her life?

5. You might have heard a claim that she is writing and publishing a cook book since last many years. Why is it that she kept on promoting it to you and suddenly kept quiet and does not speak about it? If Goddess Annapurna has taught a human being to cook well, then dont you think that such a person should share such recipes with others who love her without any charges? Why is it that Aum Ayurveda - a non profit organization charges money for every act its representative - Vaidya does? Isn´t this contradictory?

6. Why is it that you only learn a few recipes in a retreat and then she tells you to come to another retreat again and again and again? Of course you shell out an exorbitant amount of $800-900 for 3 days of retreat...

7. Have you ever wondered why no receipt is given to you for consultations or retreats despite requesting it? Have you thought about why do you pay only check or cash? Why are credit cards not accepted? Have you been given a break up of what was the cost of the Himalaya herbs she gives and the cost her reading your pulse? Have you been told that what you pay her can be claimed under Flexible Savings Account by the govt? Has it happened to you - that you requested for FSA receipt and were told it will come soon, and finally no receipt came? Is this how any standard organization (profit or non profit) operates - that they keep the consumer waiting for a receipt and eventually the consumer gives it up!

8. Have you heard that Vaidya was supposed to be interviewed on Oprah? Did that ever happen or was it another marketing gimmick by her to claim that she is one of the movers and shakers of this world?

9. Have you ever wondered that when you pay an average of $150 for 30 mins of consultation, how much does it translate into annual income? It means $2400 for 8 hours of consultation income per day, which means $12,000 of consultation income per week (assume she works for 5 days a week, while in reality she works 7 days a week). This means $48,000 of consultation income per month and $576,000 consultation income EVERY YEAR. Add to this the hindu prayers/ workshops/ retreats she does, how much income is that for a non-profit called Aum Ayurveda - get the point?

For this posting we will stop at this point with 9 questions for you to think about and comment on.

Create a beautiful day!

  2. This is an interesting blog- I agree she is very intuitive and good at guessing. So some of her guesses hit the mark, others not. I find she uses the force of her personality more than science to drive home her point and/or justify her ideas/plans for you.

I've never thought of it as non-profit- this is a highly profitable enterprize- there is no doubt about that.

My question is how effective is it? How many people feel they have truly benefited from her consultations? What percent of people respond to her medicines?

Her promotion of eating more greens is probably the only positive outcome I got.

  3. I have benefitted greatly from Vaidyaji ,emotionally, personally and health wise and I think it is wrong to unnecessarily write such nonsense about a person who is doing a lot of good.probably,my comment will not be published because it is positive about a wonderful person I respect a lot but there is no harm trying. There will always be people who want to write nonsense and people who want to be honest about their experience.

    1. I had a positive experience once -- but it came with a price. My issue with her, is that she lied to my face several times and talks shit about my family members to everyone. I really think all that money she's making from all of us has gotten to her head. A real doctor would never insert herself into your personal life; A real doctor would never gossip; a real doctor would never talk badly about you to others.

I'm glad you have had a positive experience, but can you honestly tell me you've never encountered any of things I mentioned?

    2. I agree. Although I don't think she is some evil force who is out to get people, if you have good analytical and social skills, you can quickly realize that although she is a great healer, she puts on this act to msnipulate people with low self esteem. The whole dress, hari Kari, mystical, yogini, God like image she portrays is in part to convince people she is some sort of special person. When I was still a wide eyed, naive 14 year old who had a lot of acne and consequently low self esteem, she basically filled the skies for me. But after a couple years of learning the hard way, I decided unless she stops her bullshit act and is completely honest, I'm never going back. As a healer I trust her, with caution though, but as a person I don't trust her one bit.if you've had a great experience, good for you and keep up the work.if not, then avoid her.

  8. Has anyone asked her for proof for the 718 yr lineage she claims to come from? Even the president of this country had to go through a root canal to prove his birth credentials. I can't think of anyone in India that has ancestry records going back that long, save maybe one or two royal families. I highly doubt this claim. The cookbook that she is apparently coming out with called "High Prana" (as mentioned by her in her Oct 2010 speech) - is the same name as a collaborative cookbook effort of members of the Art of Living foundation (search 'high prana cooking for one world' in facebook) - is she a wannabe Ravi Shankar, or has some grudge against AOL? What is her real last name? "Vaidya" is Sanskrit for "doctor"...highly unlikely that it is her last name.

I had a positive effect on my body the first time when I visited her but not so after my second visit. I do agree that she is expensive. But if it works for your health issue, then I believe it's worth it. Hopefully, in the future, all her prescription continue to work for me. Going ahead cautiously.

  14. Omg...this blog site is soooo silly. The first thing that comes to mind that the author of this blog is a meat eating, hater, who does not understand the value of Ayurveda or the practitioner, such as Vaidya. Only someone SO toxic would be able to write this. It is very obvious.

    1) Those "assessment test" are STANDARD for all ayurvedic practitioners who try to assess someones "dosha". Apparently this person is clueless over this process or the value. Its laughable the ignorance that this person has.
    2) EVERY ayuvedic practitioner or yoga teacher must have people sign disclosures, because it is becoming a dangerous world. EVERY YOGA STUDIO AND AYURVEDIC ESTABLISHMENT HAS THESE DISCLOSURES. period. Yes...every studio has the same disclosure in variations.
    3) If you want a damn copy of papers....if you ask her...Im sure she would of given it to you. don't assume. lame comment.
    4) Her "staff" are most likely independent contractors who help out time to time, or whenever. This is comment, like the others, our vague and knit picky.
    5) Many small businesses don't except credit cards, so what. Some people don't want to pay these fees....cash is standard practice.
6)Ayuvedic fees are not cheap....I have seen people charge $150 for 1 hr and/or 30 mins. Depends on the experience, which she has, and how someone values their knowledge and business. If you don't like her fee's...then find someone else?
    7) "her lineage" A lot of ancient ayuvedic knowledge can not have an exact date, like the vedas...sacred knowledge goes way back.

    8) Yoga retreats are never cheap...get over it.

Lastly, these silly points from this blog are so laughable...it looks like the person who wrote this has MAJOR problems, both physically, emotionally, spiritually and energetically. All I can say is very, very bad energy. But...the worst souls CAN be helped. I would suggest this person find yoga, a vegan diet and read a book on ayurveda...I think all of your questions will be answered. It's hilarious the jealousy this person has. I am sure Vaidya will brush this off because "opinions are like butts....everyone has one." lol

  15. Thanks so much for making this blog and being so objective about it I feel relieved to know that I am not the only one whole felt "something is fishy" while trying out her methods. All I got out of it was that it is important to eat vegetables and fruits and steer clear of meat and dairy. Basically what one sitting of Forks Over Knives could do. I went to see her because my buddy thinks highly of her. I am sceptical, because I think the change of diet was the main force in his life and not anything else.

I am a psychic intuitive and I get very bad vibes from her- she is sketchy and a bad spirit emotional vampire posing as the light. be careful. she will manipulate you to keep coming with her con artist technique. it is very dangerous and calculated. no one but a medical doctor with extensive training has the knowledge to treat you- many MDs practice holistic integrative medicine- another legitimate Ayurveda practioner that MDs refer to is JAY APTE. This one is not legitimate,

  18. Avoid her like plague. She is a liar and manipulates people. Do not fall prey to her sweet talk. You don't need her medical advice to stay healthy, if that is the reason you wouldn't want to not avoid her.

  19. Ok folks, I am another of those who saw through her game and thought that I should write my views so other people stay safe.

I have interacted with her, who sort of demands to be addressed as VaidyaJI, in the last one year. Like most others, at first I thought that she is a genuine doctor. But having a keen eye helped me see through her game.

She is first and foremost a businesswoman and less of a doctor. So, she can stoop to any extent to get business, that is a steady stream of people with lot of disposable income. In fact, she exemplifies on of those suckers who pass of as doctors. I suspect that she would not entertain as patients those who cannot cough up lot of money. She is so skillful at fleecing you that she would steal your pants and you would not even know that you have been stripped naked. So beware !

On a couple of occasions, I have been given medicines without labels. So I suspect that she uses people as guinea pigs. I could make sense of this only in hindsight and not when I was consulting her for my health. If one were to gather appropriate evidence she would be sent to jail for endangering people's lives.

She is loud-mouthed and all her talk seems to be an attempt to dupe people with lies, boasts etc., Most of her clients, when one bumps into them in the main room, come across as vulnerable, unsuspecting people ; which is probably another reason why she is able to continue her gig for so long.

One has to be a miserable person deep inside for the things she indulges in. So, one should feel pity for her while avoiding her.

Hope more people will consult this blog before entering into her lair.

    1. She is very much a loud mouthed, gossip queen. She thrives on this -- she is a master at manipulation. I'm one not to gossip or partake in it. She could tell that right away, but she was very persistent on trying to push my buttons and get a reaction out of me. One time I broke and she was able to get a reaction, and a few minutes into it, I ended up giving her information she used against me at a later time.

    2. Jatin,
I would love to gear your experience from the male perspective. Did she try to ensnare you?

  20. I have both bad and good experiences with her. Although she is good at diagnosing and curing stomach ailments and many other diseases, she may not be as effective for others. For example, she claimed my mother had a liver issue when it was in fact a gallbladder issue(we checked before with a gastroenterologist). She also gives many fishy medicines which I wish she would explain before giving to patients. Most of all, it is her personality that puts me off. She brags about her over achieving patients and family in order to make herself look special or one of a kind. If you don't treat her like the Queen of the world she hates you and brags constantly.I think that she does possess a talent in ayurveda in some areas, but her personality and occasional off the mark diagnoses make me feel that she is not god like ( as some patients believe) or an invincible doctor.

    1. So I heard that she has ruined many other families by ensnaring the man of each family. People say that she cannot stand happy families as she does not have one. Your husband will find it the hard way, after losing good chunk of money. Assuming that you still talk to your husband, work out a way of recording her advice and conversations with you both. If your husband does not see through the game and ditches you, it is just a matter of time before he will wake to his senses. You can then drag her to court based on the recorded advice. Now what I wrote will not work, because she would read this post and will cover her tracks. So, you and your hubby will have to figure out a different way. Goodluck !

      Delete
    2. I'm no great fan of hers but I think its best to give the benefit of the doubt and maybe try to find infallible evidence that she is having an affair.Maybe next time your hubby goes to her try to attach a recording device of some sort. The reason I'm asking you to do this is because my friend's husband thinks highly of her too and Vaidya is his "go to" person if my friend and her husband ever argue. She also told him to divorce my friend. I guess she doesn't get how we women love other halves because she never got the chance to experience the same. Maybe she has a past that makes her envious of other couples.

  22. I was naive, thinking that Vaidya was there to help my family. We gave her tons and tons of money without giving it an extra thought...trusting her. Now, I am no fool. I have had it with her lies, manipulations, and most of all her successful attempt to tear up my family.

One thing is for sure, she is clever and has covered her ass. Stay away from her.

  24. Thanks for creating this blog. I don’t know where to even start. Like most people in this site, Priyanka has destroyed my family. Dealing with her has been like dealing with the devil.

From my experience, Priyanka tends to feed on people with low self-esteem and a weak mind. She tends to feed on people who have never been taught to feel good about them-selves, seek constant approval from those around them. I call it the "gold star" system, like they feel they deserve a gold star for everything they do. She finds these people and feeds them exactly what they want to hear and takes advantage of their money and uses them to serve her life and business. One of which is an employee of hers. This employee was apparently poisoned by the mom and was in the hospital. Priyanka first met the employee in the hospital. The employee’s dad apparently contacted Priyanka for help. Personally, I haven't heard of a hospital that released a patient that was suspected of being poisoned (I work at a hospital, so I am very familiar with the protocols). Priyanka would publicize this information to everyone (including strangers) in front of the employee. Priyanka uses this tactic to get pity from everyone for the employee. Priyanka does this repeatedly to all her employees to reinforce and increate the hatred the employees have toward their parents and control them and give them false hope. Once the employees turn 18, even though they are not in a well state of mind, she uses the age as a power (parental control/consent is no longer needed at 18) to separate them from their parents. Priyanka manipulates and controls their day-to-day life to her benefit. The strange part of this story is that the employee (the one that was poisoned) still keeps regular/close contact with the parents, which seems really strange. This employee has also been a key role in breaking up my family.

In my experience I haven’t seen this many bad reviews of a therapist, doctor or whatever she calls herself these days. There are many other ethical ways to get help from others. In my humble opinion, I would put her up in a pedestal with other cult leaders in history such as David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite, Jim Jones and Shoko Asahara. I am sad put her in any pedestal but the truth has to be told. She runs a very unethical practice and only has own self-interest.

  26. Vaidyaji has all the scary features of someone with a narcissistic personality disorder. Beware. She will cause harm if she feels threatened. She chooses people who are naive, vulnerable and desperate and brainwashes them to worship her. Yes, she genuinely believes she IS a Goddess and expects to be worshipped. No, mere admiration is not enough.

I cannot believe that a professional can practice without divulging their family name. That means you cannot check her credentials and cannot complain about her to any authority.

Of course, her knowledge of Ayurveda is a separate matter. My comments are purely about her personality and her unjust manipulative behaviour with vulnerable people and people experiencing a low point in their lives.

Instead of using this blog to share experiences (no matter how reassuring), how about using this blog to provide ideas on how people can help others from falling into this Vaidyaji Priyanka trap. Is there any Ayurvedic regulatory board in the USA that can be approached to file a complaint?

    1. I think your analysis is on point. I think that as a physician alone, she is wonderful and a one of a kind. But when it comes to personality, I don't know what the heck is wrong with her. I was at a terribly low point when I saw her. Money issues, ill parent, people who kept abusing me men tally and physically, lost my best friends, etc. She kept flattering me , which at the time did wonders to my self esteem and confidence. She suddenly turned mean when I accidentally botched up a project she wanted me to do. She then acted like I was a loser and talked to me like I was a retard or something. I still wish I could have known her better and coul d be around her, but I'm personally scared and not willing to go through drama and further condescending behavior. I o ly hope the best for everyone involved.

What does not help you may help someone else who wants to be proactive about a problem instead of seeking useless gossip. I found most of your comments useless and unhelpful probing for personal information without providing any useful information yourself other than letting us know how smart you are -since you have managed to lose money but nothing else.

  31. Ok even though it's been a really long time since I was a client, I just thought id share / ask questions . My parents were slightly upset with the fact that when my brother was put on a diet, it did not work well with him and his liver was having issues and she wouldn't really make an attempt to respond to my parents when they were very concerned ( that they told me ) I get that everyone gets busy but patients are a primary concern and it's best when the doctor lives in the same area .
My experience was ultimately beneficial in a way ( I hope ) but I have a lot of unanswered questions and doubts Based on her pulse thingy she told me I was brilliant and that's absolutely not true because I'm dull. And she didn't go into the core of my problem which was low self esteem which I'm still struggling with. But I feel I'm more honest because of this in a way. ( the issue ). And yea she could have be a little less condescending/ rude but she's friendly and gave good advice when it came to meditation. My questions are why does she have a bit of an attitude? How did y'all feel about her pulse technique?

  34. Some things puzzle me. WHY do people go to such people for medical problems? As much as I respect Ayurveda (if she indeed practices that!) I still cannot believe it can solve issues that are of the kind people are discussing here.

I have known such people in my life. This is a strange desire to become a cult leader in some people that propels them to create such mythical personas for themselves.

I put Deepak Chopra and many others in this category - but they are successful cult leaders! It seems this is a case of a wannabe cult leader!

Even AOL is nothing more than a cult, despite all the good they do.

For the crummy salaries UN docs get, there is NO WAY you can raise, let alone feed 16 kids at once; She has nephews that are all surgeons; that other than an MD, all other degrees are bullshit (like she has an MD, RIGHT, LOL); That her assistant, who we've never even seen, even in a photo, almost drowned in the Japan Tsunami; Telling people what they were in the past life... ect

We should ask people for these 'miracle' stories she has told about herself! That will make for a very funny blog on its own!

  38. I remember another amusing story she told people. When the Tsunami hit Chennai, apparently Shri Shri Ravishankar had told her and a select group two weeks before the event, not to go to the beach! I doubt he did any such thing. She used to be big fan of AOL but fought with them too. Someone asked why the hell didn't Shri Shri tell EVERYONE if he knew in advance?! Why only her and her friends!!!
